Rasasi Hawas Ice Freeze vs Hawas Ice (2026): What Changed and Which to Buy

NITIK Verma10 min read

Hawas Ice Freeze is not a stronger Hawas Ice but a different, mintier citrus scent, so here is what changed, how each wears in Indian heat and which one to buy.

FragFreak cover, Rasasi Hawas Ice Freeze vs Hawas Ice.

Rasasi put the word Ice in the name again, so most people assume Hawas Ice Freeze is simply a colder or stronger Hawas Ice. It is not. The two share only a couple of notes and they wear quite differently in Indian heat. Here is what changed, and which one makes sense for you.

Short answer: Buy Rasasi Hawas Ice Freeze at ₹3,649 for 100 ml if you want a clean, minty citrus that is not sweet and stays polite in an office. Buy Rasasi Hawas Ice at ₹2,849 for 100 ml if you want the fruity, sweet-fresh Hawas character with more projection and a longer day. Not sure? Try both as 8 ML decants first.

  • Ice Freeze is a new scent, not a stronger Hawas Ice. Of the published notes, only bergamot and musk appear in both.
  • The apple is gone. Ice Freeze swaps the Hawas apple and plum for orange, mandarin, ginger and mint.
  • Hawas Ice is louder and lasts longer. Expect roughly 6 to 8 hours in Indian heat, against 5 to 7 for Ice Freeze based on early reviews.
  • Ice Freeze is most often compared to Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim, with mint added. Rasasi has not named any inspiration.
  • Hawas Ice costs ₹800 less for the full bottle.

Rasasi Hawas Ice EDP ₹2,849 Fruity fresh, cool spice 6-8 hrs Men

What changed: a new scent with a familiar name

Hawas Ice came out in 2023 as a cooler take on the original Hawas. It kept the apple and plum that made Hawas famous, added lemon, star anise and cardamom, and finished on amber, moss, musk and driftwood. Reviewers still place it in the same fresh, fruity family as the original, the style people often compare to Paco Rabanne Invictus Aqua.

Hawas Ice Freeze arrived in 2026 and is listed on Fragrantica and Olfastory as a separate men's eau de parfum. Rasasi rebuilt the pyramid rather than turning up the cold. The apple, plum, star anise and moss are gone. In their place you get orange and mandarin on top, ginger and mint in the heart, and a base of ambergris, sandalwood and musk. Olfastory points out that the crystal moss that defined Hawas Ice does not appear in Ice Freeze at all.

The cooling effect also comes from a different place. In Hawas Ice the chill comes from frosted apple, lemon and marine notes around a sweet, fruity core. In Ice Freeze, reviewers say the icy feel comes mostly from the mint, sitting on bright, slightly sour citrus. One early Fragrantica reviewer went as far as saying it smells nothing like the original Hawas, Hawas Ice or the other Invictus-style scents in the line.

Notes compared side by side

Hawas Ice (2023) Hawas Ice Freeze (2026)
Top Frosted apple, bergamot, lemon, star anise Bergamot, orange, mandarin
Heart Plum, cardamom, orange blossom, marine notes Ginger, mint, lily of the valley
Base Amber, crystal moss, musk, driftwood Ambergris, sandalwood, musk
Where the cold comes from Frosted apple, lemon, marine notes Mint over sharp citrus
Sweetness Medium, fruity Low
Full bottle ₹2,849 (100 ml) ₹3,649 (100 ml)

Only bergamot and musk are shared, so the two can sit in one collection without feeling like a repeat. If you own Hawas Ice, Ice Freeze is not an upgrade. It is a different direction.

What does Hawas Ice Freeze smell like?

It opens with a burst of orange and mandarin over bergamot. Buyers on retailer pages keep using the same words for it: very citrus forward, crisp, clean. Within a few minutes the ginger adds a slightly peppery warmth and the mint comes up underneath, which is what gives the scent its cold, just-showered feel. The lily of the valley stays quiet and adds a light green floral touch rather than anything you would call flowery.

The drydown is a soft blend of musk, light sandalwood and ambergris, which Olfastory describes as adding a slightly salty, marine edge. It is not sweet. There is no apple, no plum and no vanilla, so if you have always found the original Hawas a bit sugary, this is the Hawas to try.

And Hawas Ice?

Hawas Ice opens with frosted apple, lemon and bergamot, then star anise and cardamom bring a cool, spicy edge before plum sweetens the heart. Reviewers describe it as the original Hawas made fresher and more citrusy, with much of the sweetness kept. One reviewer notes the star anise can read slightly medicinal to some noses, so test it first if you dislike aniseed.

Is Hawas Ice Freeze a dupe of anything?

Rasasi does not say Ice Freeze is inspired by any designer perfume. The comparison you will see most often is Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim, and the notes explain why. Louis Vuitton lists five key notes for Afternoon Swim: bergamot, mandarin, orange, ginger and ambergris. All five appear in the Ice Freeze pyramid. Ice Freeze then adds mint, lily of the valley, sandalwood and musk, which makes it cooler and a little more musky.

Several Fragrantica reviewers say it reminds them of Afternoon Swim, and a buyer on a UK retailer wrote that its orange note brought Afternoon Swim to mind. Another reviewer placed it somewhere between Dior Homme Cologne and Afternoon Swim, with mint on top. So it is fair to say Ice Freeze is in the direction of Afternoon Swim at a fraction of the price. It is not the same perfume, and it has its own mint signature.

You may also see sellers list Invictus Aqua as a comparable profile. That comparison belongs mainly to the original Hawas and Hawas Ice, which is where the Hawas line built its name. Most early reviewers of Ice Freeze point to Afternoon Swim instead.

Longevity and projection in Indian weather

This is the biggest practical difference. Hawas Ice is the stronger performer. Reviewers report 6 to 10 hours, with strong projection for the first two to three hours. In Indian heat, where citrus top notes burn off faster, plan on roughly 6 to 8 hours, with the loud part in the first couple of hours.

Ice Freeze is gentler. It is a new release and there is little data yet, but the early picture is consistent. One Fragrantica reviewer got about 5 to 6 hours, community votes on Olfastory lean towards moderate longevity and discreet sillage, and an Indian retailer lists 7 to 9 hours with moderate projection. On a humid Mumbai afternoon or a Delhi summer day, expect around 5 to 7 hours, with the scent sitting closer to the skin after the first hour or two.

A few habits help with both. Spray on clothes as well as skin, since fabric holds fresh notes longer in the heat. Keep an 8 ML decant in your bag for a top-up after lunch, which matters more with Ice Freeze. Our guide on how to make your perfume last longer covers the rest.

Where each one fits: Ice Freeze suits air-conditioned offices, college, the gym and hot daytime errands, where a loud scent would bother people. Hawas Ice suits outdoor plans, a summer evening out or a casual get-together where you want to be noticed. For a winter wedding night, most people will want something warmer than either, so see our wedding and festive perfume picks.

Which should you buy?

  • Want the cleanest, least sweet Hawas for office and heat? Hawas Ice Freeze, a minty citrus that stays polite.
  • Want projection and compliments? Hawas Ice, the louder, fruitier one that lasts longer.
  • Like the Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim style? Ice Freeze is the one reviewers compare to it.
  • On a tighter budget? Hawas Ice, ₹800 less for the full bottle.
  • Already own Hawas Ice? Ice Freeze is different enough to own both. Another apple-led Hawas would be a repeat.
  • Not sure? Try 8 ML decants first: Ice Freeze at ₹569 and Hawas Ice at ₹429.

Other Hawas to consider

Perfume Full bottle Scent Consider it if
Rasasi Hawas EDP ₹2,649 Fruity aquatic, apple and cinnamon You want the original crowd-pleaser
Rasasi Hawas La Mer EDP ₹3,339 Mint citrus, blackcurrant, fig You like the mint in Ice Freeze but want more fruit

The original Hawas (2015) is apple, bergamot, lemon and cinnamon over plum, orange blossom, cardamom and aquatic notes, settling on ambergris, musk, driftwood and patchouli. It is the sweet, fruity Hawas that Ice Freeze moves away from. If you are choosing between the original and Hawas Ice instead, read our Rasasi Hawas vs Hawas Ice comparison.

Hawas La Mer is another 2026 release. It opens with peppermint, bergamot and mandarin, so it shares the cool start of Ice Freeze, then turns darker and fruitier with blackcurrant, jasmine and an unusual carrot note over fig, amber and woods. Pick it if Ice Freeze feels too plain for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Hawas Ice Freeze and Hawas Ice?

Hawas Ice (2023) is a fruity fresh scent with frosted apple, lemon, star anise and plum over amber, moss and musk. Hawas Ice Freeze (2026) drops the apple and plum for orange, mandarin, ginger and mint over ambergris, sandalwood and musk. Ice Freeze is cleaner and less sweet, while Hawas Ice is fruitier, louder and lasts longer.

Is Hawas Ice Freeze a dupe of any designer perfume?

Rasasi has not named an inspiration, but Hawas Ice Freeze is most often compared to Louis Vuitton Afternoon Swim. All five key notes Louis Vuitton lists for Afternoon Swim, bergamot, mandarin, orange, ginger and ambergris, appear in Ice Freeze, which adds mint, lily of the valley, sandalwood and musk. Think of it as in the same direction rather than identical.

How long does Hawas Ice Freeze last?

Early reviews suggest around 5 to 7 hours in Indian heat, with moderate projection that settles close to the skin after the first hour or two. That is less than Hawas Ice, which usually gives 6 to 8 hours in the same conditions. Spraying on clothes and carrying a decant for a top-up helps.

Which is better for Indian summer, Hawas Ice or Hawas Ice Freeze?

Both are summer scents. Hawas Ice Freeze is the better choice for offices, the gym and crowded places because it is cooler and quieter. Hawas Ice is better when you want to be noticed outdoors or on a summer evening, and it lasts longer in the heat.
