Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar Review (2026): Notes, Longevity and Price
An honest Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar review: the saffron, rose and oud notes, how long it lasts in Indian weather, what it costs and who should buy it.
Zumar is the most expensive Ahmed Al Maghribi bottle we sell, and it gets asked about a lot. At this price you want to know exactly what you are paying for. Here is what it smells like, how it behaves in Indian weather, and who should buy it.
Short answer: Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar is a rich saffron, rose and oud fragrance with a juicy pear opening and a warm, slightly sweet base. It is unisex and at its best on cool evenings. Wearers rate its longevity well, and 8 to 10 hours in winter is a fair expectation. It costs ₹8,999 for the 60ml bottle, the only size we stock. If you are new to oud, try the same rose-oud style first with Oud and Roses at ₹3,629 for 60ml, or its ₹829 8ml decant.
- Rich, not fresh. Saffron and pear up top, rose and jasmine in the heart, oud underneath.
- Two note lists exist. The brand adds red berries, cacao and brown sugar. Databases add leather and oakmoss.
- A night and winter scent. October to February in north India, evenings only on the coast.
- Not a safe blind buy for oud beginners. Some reviewers find the oud quite animalic.
- ₹8,999 for 60ml, with no decant right now. The priciest Ahmed Al Maghribi we stock.

What does Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar smell like?
Start with the note list, because two versions are in circulation. Ahmed Al Maghribi's own site lists saffron, pear, red berries and a kinam oud accord on top, gardenia, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, rose de Grasse and frangipani in the heart, and brown sugar, ambrette, oud, white musk, cacao, patchouli and rose resins in the base. It files Zumar as an oriental gourmand. Parfumo and several retailers carry a longer list that adds cinnamon, cashmere wood, leather, raspberry, amber and oakmoss. Both agree on the core: saffron and pear first, rose and jasmine in the middle, oud at the bottom.
Kinam is a name for a very prized grade of agarwood. Listed as an accord, it describes the impression the perfumer built, so read it as a style rather than a promise about the raw material.
The opening, first 30 to 60 minutes. Saffron arrives with juicy pear and a red berry sweetness. It is warm and spicy rather than sharp, and the fruit softens the saffron straight away. The brand lists its kinam oud accord in the top notes, so a hint of oud shows up early too.
The heart, roughly hours one to three. Rose and jasmine take over. One reviewer describes a syrupy rose with red berries and saffron around it, which is the classic Arabian rose-oud picture. This is the stage where Zumar feels most dressed up.
The dry-down, hour three onwards. Oud moves to the front with musk, patchouli and a soft sweetness, and on some skins a leathery edge. Reviews split here. Some call it smooth and well balanced. Others find the oud quite animalic, in the traditional style, and one reviewer warned it is far from a safe blind buy.
How long does Zumar last in Indian weather?
Zumar is newer and pricier than most of the house's line, so there is less hour-by-hour data than for the bestsellers. What exists is positive. The few users who have rated it on Parfumo and Parfoom score its longevity well above average and its projection as moderate to strong, and the brand sells it as long-lasting. One buyer quoted by a UK retailer called it very long lasting and ordered a full bottle after the first wear.
In practice, plan like this. On a cool evening in Delhi, Jaipur or Lucknow, two or three sprays should give you around 8 to 10 hours on skin, with a noticeable trail for the first two or three hours before it settles close. In Mumbai, Chennai or Kolkata humidity, plan on roughly 6 to 8 hours, and expect the sweet rose to feel heavy in the middle of the day. A spray on a shawl, jacket collar or the inside of a sherwani lasts longer still, and you will be wearing those in the season Zumar suits.
Go easy on the sprays. Rich rose-oud blends get loud indoors, and two sprays are plenty for a closed room.
When and where to wear Zumar
Winter nights. This is its home. Cold air keeps the sweetness in check and lets the saffron and rose read clearly.
Weddings and festive evenings. Rose, saffron and oud sit naturally with Indian festive wear. Zumar works for winter receptions, sangeet nights and Diwali dinners, for men and women alike.
Date nights and dinners. The rose heart and warm base are at their best up close, which suits a restaurant table better than a crowded hall.
Office, mostly no. One light spray can work in a cold office, but a rich oud in a closed, air-conditioned room is easy to overdo. Pick something fresher for work.
Summer daytime, skip it. Fruity rose with oud turns cloying in Indian heat. In summer, keep it for air-conditioned evening events, one spray only.
What is Zumar often compared to?
There is no single designer scent that Zumar is regularly matched with. Reviewers mostly place it in the classic Arabian rose-and-oud style, and one called it well made but somewhat familiar. That is fair. If you already own a good rose-oud, Zumar is a richer, fruitier take on an idea you know, not something completely new.
On paper, the database note list of pear, raspberry, saffron, rose, leather and oud overlaps heavily with Gucci Intense Oud, and at least one similarity site lists the two together. We have not seen enough side-by-side reviews to say they smell close, so treat that as a direction, not a match. Within the house, Oud and Roses and Bombay Oud sit in the same rose-oud lane at lower prices.
If you like Zumar, also try
| Perfume | What it shares with Zumar | How it differs |
|---|---|---|
| Oud and Roses | Rose, saffron and oud from the same house | Simpler and less fruity, with amber and sandalwood. The easiest way to test the style. |
| Bombay Oud | Rose, pear, leather and oud | Brighter orange opening and a benzoin and amber base. Bigger 80ml bottle. |
| Awfa | Leather, rose, oud and oakmoss | Less fruity and more leathery, with vanilla in the base. A premium leather-oud. |
| Lattafa Oud Mood | Rose, saffron, oud and brown sugar | Sweeter and simpler, with caramel and vanilla. A fraction of the price. |
| Gucci Intense Oud | Pear, raspberry, saffron, rose, leather, oud | Adds frankincense. A designer name at a higher price. |
Oud and Roses is the closest everyday option from the same house. Lattafa Oud Mood is the budget route to a sweet rose-oud. Gucci Intense Oud suits buyers who want the same fruity, leathery oud mood with a designer label.
Is Zumar worth ₹8,999?
Yes, if you already know you love rose and oud. ₹8,999 for 60ml works out to about ₹150 per ml, well above the ₹2,000 to ₹5,500 that most of the house's bottles cost with us. You are paying for a richer, more layered blend, not for a new idea.
There is no Zumar decant at the moment, so the smart way in is to test the style first. Wear an 8ml of Oud and Roses at ₹829 for a few cool evenings. If you love it and want something deeper and fruitier, Zumar is the step up. If the oud feels too much, you have saved yourself a lot of money. Our guide to decants vs full bottles explains when each makes sense.
Who should buy Zumar, and who should skip it
- Buy it if: you already enjoy rose and oud and want the richest version this house makes.
- Buy it if: you want a winter wedding and festive-night scent that holds up through a long evening.
- Gift it to: an oud lover who already owns the usual bestsellers.
- Skip it if: you are new to oud. Start with Oud and Roses instead.
- Skip it if: you need one bottle for daytime, office and summer.
- Our verdict: a rich, well-made rose-oud for cool nights, priced as a special bottle. Buy it when you know the style is yours.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price of Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar in India?
At FragFreak, Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar costs ₹8,999 for the 60ml Eau de Parfum, the only size we stock. There is no decant at the moment, so if you want to test the rose-oud style first, an 8ml of Ahmed Al Maghribi Oud and Roses costs ₹829.
Is Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar long lasting?
Wearers rate its longevity well above average. In cool weather a fair expectation is around 8 to 10 hours on skin, with stronger projection in the first two or three hours. In humid Indian heat plan for 6 to 8 hours, and spray on clothes for longer wear.
Is Zumar for men or women?
Zumar is unisex. The rose and jasmine heart and the sweet base suit women as much as men, and the oud keeps it from reading as purely floral. It is best worn at night and in the cooler months by anyone who enjoys rich oud.
Which perfumes are similar to Zumar?
Ahmed Al Maghribi Oud and Roses and Bombay Oud share its rose and oud core at lower prices, and Lattafa Oud Mood is a sweeter budget option. Gucci Intense Oud has a very similar note list of pear, raspberry, saffron, rose, leather and oud.
Is Ahmed Al Maghribi Zumar original?
Yes. Ahmed Al Maghribi is a genuine perfume house from the UAE, and the Zumar we sell is the original sealed 60ml Eau de Parfum. The real risk with any expensive oud is a counterfeit from an untrusted seller, so buy from a store you trust.
